The NEXUS Collective (1) was founded in 2024 out of a shared desire to create and a drive to rethink social structures. We explore how collaborative creative processes can help challenge existing norms and envision and communicate new, alternative realities. We experience the dominant conception of reality as overwhelming and exploitative.

The aim of the NEXUS Collective is to provide an open platform for young creatives from diverse disciplines to connect and learn from one another. Through transdisciplinary collaboration, both on individual projects and long-term initiatives, a wide variety of projects can emerge. As a collective, we continuously learn and evolve through our exchange with each other.

This website is developing organically into a living archive and a space for sharing ideas and creative impulses. With a transdisciplinary and holistic approach, it seeks to provide diverse insights into key cultural, social, and ecological issues of our time, and to spark unexpected connections between topics, ideas, and practices.

Why do we use German and English as our main languages?

We decided to use German and English as our primary languages for translations and captions on Instagram for the following reasons:

1. German and English are the languages we use to communicate with each other within the NEXUS Collective.

2. Due to limited financial resources, translations into other languages would currently need to be handled by volunteers from our personal network.

We recognize that language often serves as a means of maintaining power structures. If necessary, we will make an effort to translate into additional languages as well.

For this document, we used the statement of Acess HGK as a template and further developed it to suit our collective concept.

Warum verwenden wir Deutsch und Englisch als unsere Hauptsprachen?

Wir haben uns aus folgenden Gründen entschieden, Deutsch und Englisch als unsere Hauptsprachen für Übersetzungen und Bildunterschriften auf Instagram zu nutzen:

1. Deutsch und Englisch sind die Sprachen, welche wir im NEXUS Collective verwenden, um mitenander zu kommunizieren.

2. Aufgrund begrenzter finanzieller Mittel würden Übersetzungen in andere Sprachen derzeit von Freiwilligen aus unserem persönlichen Netzwerk übernommen.

Wir wissen, dass Sprache oft als Mittel dient, um Machtverhältnisse aufrechtzuerhalten. Falls nötig, werden wir uns bemühen, auch zwischen weiteren Sprachen zu übersetzen.

Für dieses Dokument nutzen wir das Statement von Acess HGK als Vorlage und haben es für unser Kollektivkonzept weiterentwickelt. Danke für die Arbeit, @Acess HGK!
